Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate stalls at the same angle every cycle. This usually means the operator arm bracket has cracked or the hinge weld has opened enough to let the gate sag into a bind. The motor keeps running but the mechanical advantage is lost at that exact point.
• You hear metal-on-metal grinding before the operator trips its overload. The mounting plate has shifted, and the actuator is no longer pushing squarely through its travel path. In Scottsdale’s hard water and dust environment, grit works into the gap and accelerates wear.
• The post moves when the gate operates. Either the concrete footing has cracked or the weld between the post base and the shoe plate has failed. This is structural, not cosmetic, and running the operator will eventually tear the board.
• Fresh rust weeping from a joint that was painted last season. That indicates a crack behind the paint. Moisture wicks through the gap, oxidizes, and pushes out as a brown stain. By the time you see it, the weld is often 60 percent compromised.
